A 1983 graduate (Finalist, and Presidential Scholar in Modern Dance) of the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from The University of Texas at Austin, where she toured Mexico and the Southwest region with U.T.’s Dance Reperatory Theatre. Ramona was a former principal dancer with Dallas Black Dance Theatre in the early 1980’s to 1990. In 1990, she was invited to participate in an arts residency with the Ralph Lemon Dance Co., at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her choreography was presented twice in the New Choreographers of Texas competition in Austin, Texas. Ramona returned to her roots at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts from 1991 to 1995 to teach, choreograph, and perform. For an Excellence in Choreography award, she received recognition for her work in Collin County Community College’s musical production of Stand-Up Tragedy, which was recommended for advancement and placed first in the American College Theater Festival Regional Finals. Most Recently, she performed with the Ebony Emeralds Classic Theater Co. for Bishop T.D. Jakes’ God’s Leading Ladies 2006 Graduation Ceremony in October 2006. She continues to reach and teach, perform, and choreograph for the performing arts community in Dallas. Ramona has a driving passion for giving back to Dallas’ Southern sector of the community. Her passion comes from a higher purpose to share her gifts and talents with at-risk youth organizations, faith-based youth ministries, as well as praise and worship (dance) ministries. She also freelances as a fitness instructor for health & fitness youth programs to help fight childhood obesity.
